Ciderfest
The Morrison Board approved a special events liquor license for Ciderfest 2022.
Ciderfest will take place from 10 a.m. until dark on Sept. 24 on the grounds of Bear Creek Care and Rehab. The event will feature activities for all ages, including face painting, crafts, bouncy houses, hay rides, live music, a silent auction and hard cider tasting. More information about the event can be found at morrisonciderfest.org.
Right-of-way
The board adopted ordinance 512 which vacated a right-of-way within the town.
The applicant, Chad Guinn of Embury Etcetera Trust, requested Minor Resubdivision approval to vacate internal lot lines for a property located at 101 South Park Avenue. The request was to vacate 20 feet of the existing 80 feet of South Park Avenue.
Town staff found that a remaining 60 feet right-of-way “provides adequate present and future access for the area.”
Parking
The board previously hoped to get 50% in parking violation revenue from Interstate Parking, but now plans to scale back the request.
Interstate Parking attended Aug. 2’s meeting and, along with Town Manager Kara Winters, explained that the town was not collecting 50% of the violation revenue like the board had previously discussed.
“We don’t give 50% of violation revenue to any other town,” representatives from Interstate Parking said.
The company said the highest percentage they had paid out to another town was 25%.
The board then directed town staff to form a contract with Interstate Parking for the town to collect 25% of the violation revenue.
Police
On Aug. 2, the board authorized the purchase of two used Colorado State Patrol vehicles for the Morrison Police Department. Purchasing used vehicles cuts down on cost, and provides quicker purchasing than new vehicles since many of MPD’s are wearing out. The Chargers, which will cost around $9,500 each, will allow officers to catch up to speeders more effectively.
For catching foot and bike traffic, the department now has two E Bikes to help patrol the town. Members of the department brought the bikes into Tuesday’s meeting to show their flashing lights.
The department also is hiring a sergeant. Chief Bill Vinelli was confident that the department would find the right applicant quickly.
