Canyon Courier Milestones — Education Achievements


Christian Treat was awarded a doctor of medicine degree from the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons on May 18  in New York City. Treat and his family celebrated graduation with the first in-person commencement ceremony at Columbia University since the COVID-19 pandemic began two years ago. Dr. Treat will begin his residency program in emergency medicine at Stony Brook Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center in Long Island, New York. Treat received a master of science degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University in 2015, is a 2013 graduate of Bucknell University and a 2009 graduate of Clear Creek High School. He is the son of Rebecca and R.C. Treat of Evergreen and resides with his wife, Meaghan, and their two children in Port Jefferson, New York.


Kia Clark, of Evergreen, was named to the honor roll for the spring 2022 semester at Emporia State University in Emporia Kansas. To qualify, students earned a minimum 3.8 GPA.


Carolyn Campbell, of Evergreen, graduated with a master's degree in speech-language pathology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, during commencement exercises in May 2022.


Lucas Jones, of Evergreen, has graduated from Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois. A biochemistry major, Jones is the son of Christopher K. and Tracy J. Jones of Evergreen.


Cade Carroll, of Evergreen, and Brenna Milligan, of Morrison, were named to the dean’s list at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Those on the dean’s list have a 3.5 or better GPA. Milligan also graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in anthropology in May.


Katherine Hood, of Evergreen, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2022 semester at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont. Hood is a molecular genetics major in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.


Karina Opalski, of Conifer, was named to Tallahassee Community College spring 2022 president's list.


Annika Rose, of Evergreen, was named to the University of Mississippi's spring 2022 honor roll at the University of Mississippi. Students named to the honor roll have a GPA between 3.5 and 3.74. Rose is majoring in general business.


Ian Hamilton, of Evergreen, participated in the NewFest Short Work play, “The Funeral,” this spring at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. NewFest is a showcase featuring plays written, directed and performed by Emerson College students. Hamilton is majoring in theater and performance.


Amanda Weedman, of Conifer, graduated in May from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. Weedman received a master of business administration degree in management and business ethics.


Gabriel Bruce Schlaebitz, of Evergreen, graduated in May from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor of science degree in business administration with high distinction.


Kyler Yarnell, of Morrison, has been named to the dean's list for the Spring 2022 semester at Central College in Pella, Iowa. The honor is awarded to students who achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher.


Tess Mitchell and Madeline Seiberlich, both of Evergreen, have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2022 semester at South Dakota State College in Brookings, South Dakota.


Maia Clayton, of Evergreen, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2022 semester at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Students on the dean’s list have a 3.6 or higher GPA.
