  • Status shouldn’t be tied to witch hunt

    As Colorado Democrats attempt to elect a Secretary of State for the first time since 1954, one of the things some people have tried to pin on Republican secretary of state Wayne Williams is too much cooperation with President Donald Trump’s ridiculous voter fraud witch hunt last year. Those charges are wrong and misleading.

    Some charters set to lose 5 percent of mill levy funding
    Dear Editor:
    I always appreciated the fact that Jeffco shared 100 percent of mill levy funding to support students in charter schools in Jeffco as it should be because charter students are public school students, they live in Jeffco and their parents pay taxes in Jeffco.  At the May 3 board meeting, the school board discussed and voted to only sharing 95 percent of mill levy dollars with all charter schools.  My issues with this:

    You may be familiar with the idea that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. How about, one person’s progress is another person’s bad news?
    It seems that progress comes from the realization that there may be a better way of doing things. But, we humans may not be willing to immediately let go of the old way.

    Now that we are in a period of nearly full employment, people have many job choices. The days of taking any job you can get and hanging on for dear life are over. Managers, executives and everyday employees can choose to join an organization or not. They expect that in addition to their paycheck, they have a right to expect good treatment in the forms of recognition for good work, a reasonable work schedule and respect from managers and others. Many will ask about the values of the organization as well as its goals.
