Dobbs needs to check facts regarding stock market
    Editor:
I just received the Jan. 24 issue of Canyon Courier. Upon reading Greg Dobbs’ opinion “Transforming the bully pulpit,” I couldn’t help but respond.
Mr. Dobbs criticizes President Trump because “He very seldom asks how other presidents did this.” That is exactly the breath of fresh air that is needed while draining a very smelly swamp.

    Needing support for the MBTA
    Editor:
Evergreen Audubon has just launched the Year of the Bird for 2018. We celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
The MBTA made it unlawful to kill, hunt, sell or possess most of the native wild birds in North America. Before the MBTA, billions of birds were being slaughtered for food, feathers and fun. Some birds, like the passenger pigeon and the Carolina parakeet, became extinct because of the hunting pressure on them before the MBTA.

Pay attention to EPRD plans for Alderfer barn
    Editor:
To the neighbors in the vicinity of Alderfer/Three Sisters and along Buffalo Park Road:
I attended an Evergreen Park and Recreation District Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 26. One of the topics of discussions was the Alderfer property and specifically the barn on the property.

    Misleading election information, again
    Editor:
This past week, I received promotional material about the upcoming school board elections and why I should vote for the three incumbents. I found the brochure full of misleading information. First, the current board claims they are “making sure our graduates are ready for college.” Last year, graduation rates in Jeffco dropped vs. prior year. Per the 2016 ACT scores, seven out of 10 11th-graders failed to meet college and career benchmarks.

Could we be the next California?
    Editor:
Could we be next?  Another California?  They cloud-seed, too.
I have written for years about the cloud-seeding program. My well is basically dry. A new well a 1,000 feet away from my property was drilled this summer; they went down a 1,000 feet and got a gallon a minute. The farmers and ranchers east of the Continental Divide no longer have snow cover in the winter to protect their crops.
