  • Linda Katherine Buchanan

    Linda Katherine Buchanan of Evergreen passed away on Feb. 24, 2010.

    Linda was born Oct. 16, 1962, and raised in Devils Lake, N.D., and moved to Colorado to attend college at Western State in Gunnison.

    Linda was a talented artist and enjoyed snowboarding, hiking with her dogs, riding her Harley and many other outdoor activities. She will be dearly missed and loved forever.

    She is survived by her daughter Jamie Cooper of Golden; sister Anne of Fargo, N.D., and sister Joan of Fairbanks, Alaska; nephews; an aunt and uncle; and several cousins.

  • Kenard Arthur Johnston, 90

    Kenard Arthur Johnston, 90, of Evergreen passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010.

    Born and raised in the Detroit area, Ken and his wife, Mary, moved to the Evergreen area in the early 1980s. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a master sergeant at Wilmington Field, Del., during World War II, inspecting repaired planes, though he was unable to go overseas due to polio.

    Ken was very active at Church of the Hills, Evergreen Music Festival and the American Orchid Society. He loved caring for his numerous variations of orchids.

  • Mary A. Zapka

    Mary Agnes Zapka of Evergreen passed away March 11, 2010.

    She was the wife of Fred, mother of Rick and Ron, and grandmother of Rick.

    She was born in New York City on Oct. 28, 1928, the daughter of Anthony and Mary Lavelle.

  • Thomas M. Glennon, 65

    Thomas M. Glennon, 65, was born Nov. 6, 1944, in Kansas City, Mo. He died on March 2, 2010.

    A resident of Evergreen since grade school, Glennon was a retired volunteer with the Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department. He also was a retired U.S. Postal Service letter carrier.

    Glennon was a veteran of the Enlisted 82nd and the 101st Airborne in Vietnam.

  • H. Frost Theiss

    H. Frost Theiss was born Feb. 19, 1929, and died Jan. 23, 2010.

    Frost completed his baptismal journey on Jan. 23, 2010, in Peoria, Ariz. Frost was a longtime resident of Lakewood. He was an honored veteran of the Korean War and worked most of his life as a dedicated employee for American Standard before retiring in 1992.

    Frost is survived by his wife, Sally; his sister, Nina; daughter Laura; son Jim and his wife, Lynne; and grandchildren Michael and Stephen.

  • Laura Wilson, 50

    Laura Wilson was born on March 1, 1959. She was a very special person, and was loved by everyone she touched in life. She was always happy and content with life and its challenges. Her motherly instincts were strong, and she knew how to love. Laura’s mother, Jeanette, made sure of that. Throughout all the pain and suffering in the last 12 years of her life, Laura always kept a positive outlook. She was called “The Trouper” by many doctors and nurses.

  • Margaret Jeane Sweetland, 81

    Margaret Jeane Sweetland, 81, an Evergreen resident for 48 years, passed away Feb. 18, 2010, at Life Care Center of Evergreen.

    She is survived by her husband, Leon Sweetland; three children, Robert (Anita) Sweetland of Yukon, Okla., Thomas (Vic) Sweetland of Littleton and Susan (Waine) Risley of Littleton; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.   • Alexander Howard Gilmer, 25

    Alexander Howard Gilmer, 25, passed away Feb. 6, 2010, in an airplane accident over Boulder.

    Born Oct. 9, 1984, in Denver, he graduated from Conifer High School in 2003. Alex was a professional pilot and had obtained a bachelor of science degree in aerospace technology in 2008 from Utah Valley University. He was a member of AOPA and NRA. He had served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving with MACS 23 at Al Asad Airbase in Iraq, 2008-09, and was a reservist with MACS 23 at Buckley Air Force Base.

  • Kevin F. Hughes, 54

    Kevin F. Hughes died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, in Evergreen.

    He was born April 14, 1955, in Rockford, Ill.

    He is survived by his wife, Helene; three sons, Kyle Bobrick, Ryan Hughes and Ben Hughes; a sister, Kay Hughes; and brothers Patrick and Russell Hughes and their families.

  • Patricia Longo, 77

    Patricia Longo, 77, was born Aug. 10, 1932, in Belle Forche, S.D. She passed away Feb. 6, 2010.

    She had lived in Evergreen for the past 35 years.

    Pat was known to put others before herself, and for her love of nature and all its wonders. She has always cherished the spirit of the West. She will be missed in the hearts of all who loved her.

    A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at Our Lady of the Pines, 9444 Eagle Cliff Road in Conifer. The service will be followed by burial and reception at Evergreen Memorial Park.
