Jeffco sheriff’s deputies seized three malnourished horses Saturday at a property in Morrison.

A veterinarian found the horses to be in poor condition and to have significant health issues, the Sheriff’s Office reported. The horses were taken to a horse rescue facility.

The identity of the horses' owner has yet to be released. The property where the horses were seized is in the 17000 block of Forest Avenue.

In May 2013, 18 horses were seized from the same location. Owners Gary and Sandra Norman pleaded guilty to misdemeanor animal cruelty in January. The three horses seized on Saturday were on the Normans' property, but they are not the owners nor were they responsible for the animals.
