When it comes to law-enforcement philosophy, Del Kleinschmidt prefers talking to physical confrontation. "I would rather spend 30 minutes talking to someone than 10 minutes of rolling around on the ground," Kleinschmidt says.

Kleinschmidt is the new captain of the Mountain Precinct of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. He is based in Evergreen at 4990 Highway 73, next to the Evergreen Public Library.

Kleinschmidt takes the place of Capt. Rob Baker, who retired. Deputy Dale Wizieck is the crime prevention specialist based in Evergreen.
