Senior Jack Curtis rushed 20 times for 144 yards and three touchdowns, and Evergreen, as a team, rushed for 329 yards en route to a 27-20 win over Northridge on Sept. 12 at Evergreen High School.
The Cougars (2-1) built a 20-6 halftime lead on the heels of two Curtis TD runs, a Kip Nilson two-point conversion, a Greyson Lincoln safety and a 27-yard Matt Hornbecker field goal.
Joe Danni ran 10 times for 92 yards and Tanner Cassin added 56 yards on 14 carries.
Nilson blocked a field goal attempt, Danni had an interception, and Evergreen collected four sacks of Northridge quarterback Brenden Fulton. Lincoln had two, while Ansel Kilcullen and Carter Barnett added one each.
Lincoln finished with a team-high 13 tackles.
For Northridge (2-1), Fulton threw three TD passes — two to Jay Frye and another to Kayson Werner. Frye had four receptions for 115 yards.
Fulton finished 10-of-23 for 151 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.
Evergreen never trailed against the Grizzlies, who advanced to the 3A playoffs last season. Northridge was beaten in the first round by Conifer.
