The hills were about to be alive with singing April 25. Dancing, too.
With prom set for that evening or the next for many of the swimmers on the confederate Conifer squad, the dual meet with D’Evelyn was all about finishing as fast as possible.
GOLDEN — There were suggestions April 28 that Chance Forbes was mentally at prom two days after the fact, while her body, meanwhile, was competing at the 14th annual Ashley Forey Invitational.
LAKEWOOD — Sometimes it’s the ones you expect the least from that turn out to be the big go-getters.
Bumps and bruises.
Drilling the same exercises over and over until they become second nature.
Conifer starting pitcher T.K. Ochoa couldn’t find the strike zone early on April 19.
When the right-hander did hit his spots, the Cougars couldn’t find him.
LAKEWOOD – Had Evergreen erected a plate glass window in front of its goal April 17, Conifer’s Colleen Canty would have run through it.
Had there been barbed wire coiled nearby, the sophomore striker would have hopped over it.
DENVER — It’s easy to get lost at an event the size of the Mullen Runners Roost.
The Cougars did their best to stand out.
CONIFER — Break your opponent, then break bread together.
That, in a nutshell, describes the scene one would view if attending a high school Rugby game.
LAKEWOOD — Girls golf coach Mike Kuzava finally got to see his full team in the swing of things on a sunny and calm April 2.
Consider him both reassured and a little unsettled.
The Cougars didn’t expect to go through the baseball season undefeated, but they certainly would have liked to have stayed perfect at least through the weekend.
Evergreen rallied late but ended up on the short end of a 5-4 decision to D’Evelyn on April 5 in a Class 4A Jefferson County League game at Evergreen High School.
