Losing a two-time state champion diver figured to have quite an effect on the Conifer boys swim team.

Evergreen’s boys and girls track teams each took home third place finishes at last weekend’s Class 4A, Region 6 meet at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood.

The girls’ 4x800-meter relay team of Danielle Randolph, Kyla Berendzen, Bryn Haebe and Tayler Warren took first place with a time of 10 minutes, 13.56 seconds.

Evergreen girls tennis coach Radka Lacjak had a good feeling about her three singles players heading into last weekend’s regional tournament.

When the dust settled, all three had punched a ticket to the Class 4A state tournament in Pueblo and the Cougars had a second-place finish in the team standings.
