    After his defeat in California’s 1962 gubernatorial election, Richard Nixon famously said to reporters: “You won’t have Nixon to kick around anymore.”
    As county commissioner Kevin McCasky leaves office to become president of the Jefferson Economic Council, we here at Evergreen Newspapers will miss getting our own kicks from the target-rich environment he has provided.

    It was late afternoon when I first noticed fog drifting through the valley between Bear Mountain and Stanley Mountain. When a front sags down out of Canada on the plains, it often brings with it an upslope condition, which causes either snow or fog. In this case, the cold front turned the warm air into fog.

We are grateful to the citizens who serve as trustees, foundation members and Friends of the Library, as well as the many volunteers and the talented staff.

    Last week, KUSA’s Adam Schrager bid farewell to Colorado and Channel 9, where he has been a reporter since 1999. He will be missed.
    Adam, a graduate of the University of Michigan and the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, has been in the business almost 20 years, winning the recognition of his peers with almost a dozen Emmy Awards.

    Now we know where Gerou stands
    Editor:
    I live in Cheri Gerou’s district. Now I know exactly where she stands with regard to taking care of children. Nice job, Ms. Gerou, denying funding for breakfast to children whose parents for whatever reason are poor.
    Every child (rich, poor, immigrant) has the right to an education, and a child who hasn’t had breakfast can’t learn.
