Support for charter schools a wise move

    Editor:

My career in Jeffco, which began in 1961 at Mountain View Elementary School, included the old Prospect Valley, old North Lakewood, Lumberg, Foster, Vanderhoof, Devinny, Bear Creek, Kendrick Lakes, Green Mountain, Dennison, and concluded in a formal sense in August 1996 when I retired from D’Evelyn Junior/Senior High School.

As an educator for the past 37 years, the local and national agendas that surround our school environments are near and dear to my heart. Thus, I feel compelled to convey the importance of the Jefferson County school board election.

Thanks for help with ALS fund-raiser

    Editor:

I just wanted to say what a wonderful community we have at CrossFit Evergreen. On a recent Saturday, CrossFit graciously hosted an ALS fund-raiser in memory of my brother-in-law Stephen Streett. Through sweat and laughter and tears, we raised more than $5,000 for ALS research at the Robert Packard Center.

Shooting bear cubs in residential area was not responsible

    Editor:

The man who shot the cubs should know better than to fire his gun in a neighborhood. Now these poor cubs are dead.

I had a bear try to get into my garbage this morning. He was a very big boy. I just shined the flashlight on him and told him to move along, and he did.

This man should know better, living in Evergreen among wildlife, that you have to keep your garbage secure.
