Retired school employees seek answers on several issues

    Editor:

Retired Jeffco employees are presenting some of our major concerns that we would like the Board of Education to clarify for us as well as the Jeffco community:

    • Justify why you felt the need to hire Brad Miller as the board attorney, as that has not been done by previous Jeffco school boards.

    • Clarify fully the terms of Miller’s contract. Discuss why the majority of his services on his invoices to the district to date have been redacted.

Linn a wise choice for EPRD board

    Editor:

Peg Linn, a 12-year Evergreen resident, is a solid choice for the board of directors of the Evergreen Park and Recreation District. She is running for the EPRD board because of her background in community relations and sees a great fit for this background on the board.

Restaurant/brewpub does not belong in area with non-sidewalk streets
    Editor:
On Wednesday night, March 5, at the Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Commission, I witnessed a blowout every bit as big and disappointing as the Broncos’ loss to the Seahawks in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, what I witnessed was not a game. The score was:
    Economic Development: 8
    Neighborhood and Child Safety: 0

Liberal school board members are the ones who lack transparency
    Editor:
In response to Ms. Trasky’s letter: The only bully here is you, Ms. Trasky. The best interests of the school board and the children would be better served if Lesley Dahlkemper and Jill Fellman stop whining to anyone and everyone who will listen. It seems they deliberately vote against ANY proposals by the new board president.

Recall elections waste money, diminish importance of regular elections

    Editor:

Not long ago we had a recall election for the Evergreen Fire Protection District board over a capital improvements decision. Now, another disaffected group of citizens is asking for a recall election to be held to remove the conservative bloc on the Jeffco school board. In both cases, the primary issues are associated with policy decisions, not malfeasance in office.

Thanks to the deputies who apprehended carjacking suspect

    Editor:

I just want to say thank you to the Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies who apprehended and subdued a heavily armed carjacking suspect last week on Interstate 70.

As the video shows, deputies risked their own safety for the sake of their fellow citizens. I’m sure you guys would say you were just doing your jobs, but that doesn’t make this community any less grateful. Thank you again.

    Tech turns ‘progress’ into de-evolution
    Editor:
Recently my car was almost hit twice, once by an entitled millennial blithely texting while she drove, and once by a hormonally preoccupied cell-phoner possibly arranging a hot date with his girlfriend. I was recently at a mall food court and saw a group of teenagers closely bunched at a table, feverishly texting one another with no words spoken.
