Lamontagne would bring spirit of collaboration to school board
    Editor:
I am relieved to see Jeff Lamontagne on the ballot for the Jeffco school board. With the federal government shutdown and the recent recall elections in Colorado, I am happy to see a Jeffco school board election coming next month. As with all elections, we as voters should be thoughtful of our candidates before the election and not two years into their term.

Government shutdown didn’t stop me from seeing the national parks
    Editor:
I was depressed that I could not go to Rocky Mountain National Park to see the colors change today. Instead, I headed down the hill to Denver and saw a great gallery show at David Cook Galleries featuring America’s national parks.

Killing elk with arrow on golf course was inhumane, unnecessary
    Editor:
While the human population can apparently shove its way around the planet with impunity for any purpose, including golfing, elk that dare to tread on the golf course are not allowed to conduct their lives without threat of being shot.

Thanks to the deputies who apprehended carjacking suspect

    Editor:

I just want to say thank you to the Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies who apprehended and subdued a heavily armed carjacking suspect last week on Interstate 70.

As the video shows, deputies risked their own safety for the sake of their fellow citizens. I’m sure you guys would say you were just doing your jobs, but that doesn’t make this community any less grateful. Thank you again.

Lamontagne the right choice for Jeffco school board
    Editor:
I attended the Jeffco school board candidate forum in Evergreen to get a better feel for the qualifications and opinions of the candidates with regard to the issues our county is facing. District 2 candidate Jeff Lamontagne demonstrated that he would bring a balanced voice and a long-term, solutions-oriented commitment to the Jeffco school board.
