    Negative campaigning must end

    Editor:

We have recently suffered bombardment by the most despicable, disgusting, demonizing political ads imaginable for most of this past year. I don’t want my TV viewing and radio listening co-opted by wealthy political interests in future election years. Discussions with friends, family and neighbors overwhelmingly indicate that I am not alone.

Six former HD25 legislators endorse Keyser

    Editor:

As residents of House District 25 and as current and former members of the Colorado House of Representatives and Colorado Senate, we are writing to add our voices to the growing number of people in our community who are proudly supporting Jon Keyser for Colorado state representative.

Nicholson would continue to serve state Senate District 16 well

    Editor:

I read and was surprised at the responses by one of the candidates for Senate District 16 seat, both by the intensity and nature of the responses.

Doyle is best choice in HD25 to guide decisions on K-12 education

    Editor:

Having served on the Jefferson County school board, we know firsthand the importance of collaboration — not only at the school board level but just as importantly at the state level. Decisions made by the Colorado legislature affect our children, our teachers and our public schools daily. A few examples of legislative action that affects our schools:

    Thanks for memorial bench

    Editor:

A beautiful memorial bench in honor of Laurie Roe now sits in downtown Evergreen right outside Bear Creek Hair. Thanks to all those who generously donated money and time to make this a reality.

Special thanks to the Ross Lewis Trust, Jake and Mary Jacobs, Terri and Gary Carroll, and Don and Michelle Beaglehole. The remaining funds from the memorial account will be donated to the Elks Lodge. We hope everyone will stop by, sit on the bench and enjoy the beautiful garden.

Thanks for permitting memorial at the rodeo grounds

    Editor:

We would like to thank Bob Benefiel, Dave Marshall and the PRCA family for allowing us to bring our brother/father, David Miles, back to his roots in rodeo when we held a memorial at the Evergreen rodeo arena this past weekend.

David got his start in this very arena 45 years ago starting at mutton bustin’/little britches, then finishing as a bull rider.

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

Let’s end the vitriol and respect all views on governing schools

    Editor:

My husband and I volunteered in the Jeffco Public Schools for about 20 years in every grade level as we raised our children. We supported the teachers and principals and were there for students.

    Board majority disregarding community

    Editor:

Parents and citizens of Jefferson County ought to feel outraged at the recent actions of the new majority members of the school board. Let’s see. What’s happened so far this year?

    • A decision to provide all-day, paid kindergarten at Lasley Elementary in Jeffco is on the chopping block, something parents and community members of this county had already voted on and approved.
