Thanks for permitting memorial at the rodeo grounds

    Editor:

We would like to thank Bob Benefiel, Dave Marshall and the PRCA family for allowing us to bring our brother/father, David Miles, back to his roots in rodeo when we held a memorial at the Evergreen rodeo arena this past weekend.

David got his start in this very arena 45 years ago starting at mutton bustin’/little britches, then finishing as a bull rider.

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

    Barbara Miles, daughter

Let’s end the vitriol and respect all views on governing schools

    Editor:

My husband and I volunteered in the Jeffco Public Schools for about 20 years in every grade level as we raised our children. We supported the teachers and principals and were there for students.

    Board majority disregarding community

    Editor:

Parents and citizens of Jefferson County ought to feel outraged at the recent actions of the new majority members of the school board. Let’s see. What’s happened so far this year?

    • A decision to provide all-day, paid kindergarten at Lasley Elementary in Jeffco is on the chopping block, something parents and community members of this county had already voted on and approved.

Retired school employees seek answers on several issues

    Editor:

Retired Jeffco employees are presenting some of our major concerns that we would like the Board of Education to clarify for us as well as the Jeffco community:

    • Justify why you felt the need to hire Brad Miller as the board attorney, as that has not been done by previous Jeffco school boards.

    • Clarify fully the terms of Miller’s contract. Discuss why the majority of his services on his invoices to the district to date have been redacted.

Linn a wise choice for EPRD board

    Editor:

Peg Linn, a 12-year Evergreen resident, is a solid choice for the board of directors of the Evergreen Park and Recreation District. She is running for the EPRD board because of her background in community relations and sees a great fit for this background on the board.

Restaurant/brewpub does not belong in area with non-sidewalk streets

On Wednesday night, March 5, at the Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Commission, I witnessed a blowout every bit as big and disappointing as the Broncos’ loss to the Seahawks in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, what I witnessed was not a game. The score was:
    Economic Development: 8
    Neighborhood and Child Safety: 0

Liberal school board members are the ones who lack transparency
    Editor:
In response to Ms. Trasky’s letter: The only bully here is you, Ms. Trasky. The best interests of the school board and the children would be better served if Lesley Dahlkemper and Jill Fellman stop whining to anyone and everyone who will listen. It seems they deliberately vote against ANY proposals by the new board president.
