Here in America, we like the news. Our national press generously treats us to salacious details of Prince Harry’s escapade in Las Vegas, or the seemingly endless traffic travails of Lindsay Lohan. We’re at no loss for commentary on Britney Spears’ X-Factor judging style, or endless analysis of LeBron James’ fourth-quarter playing style.

The Tea Party does not have a monopoly on misunderstanding or misapplying the supreme law of our country — the Constitution. Party members just brag the loudest in their unwavering admiration for it, while applying their own filters. All sides have done that.

With the selection of Paul Ryan as his running mate, presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney has decided to make this election about ideas.

Unlike John McCain’s VP selection four years ago, Ryan is a thought leader in the Republican Party, a proven fiscal conservative who promises to force a generational debate on fiscal responsibility come November.
