The third annual pond hockey tournament at Evergreen Lake offers incentives that include a $1,500 cash prize to the champion team and free entry into the Pabst Colorado Pond Hockey competition in Silverton.
As of last week, about 30 teams had registered for the two-day event on Jan. 5 and 6. Registration is open through Wednesday, Jan. 2 in hopes of getting 50 teams to participate, said Brad Bednar, Lake House supervisor.
"Hockey players are tough to wrangle in," he said.
