Lois Dean Julius, 87, of Payson, Ariz., died in Payson on April 14 from complications of a stroke. She had lived in Payson for the last 10 years and in Roosevelt, Ariz., since 1970. She was born in Granite City, Ill., on May 26, 1920, to Marion Jasper Burnett and Maude Jane Abbett Burnett. She grew up in Denver and graduated from Manual High School.
She was married in 1941 to Paul John Leonard of New Mexico, who was a member of the Doolittle Raid in 1942. They had a boy, James Paul Leonard, in 1942. Paul Leonard died in Algeria in 1943 after the raid and never saw his son.
