  • Evelyn Bertha Ista Burgess, 94

    Evelyn Bertha Ista Burgess was born on Dec. 23, 1914, and passed away at her home in Evergreen on April 6, 2009, at age 94.

    She leaves her husband, Orley, of Evergreen; son Bruce; sisters Betty (Walton, deceased) Spillman of Lakeville, Minn. Joyce (Ivert) Anderson of New Brighton, Minn., June (Cecil) Rust of Spokane, Wash., and Dorothy (Norman) Johnson of Bloomington, Minn. Her sister Alice and husband Melvin Kolsrud preceded her in death. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives, mostly in the Minnesota area.

  • John Edson Wason, 88

    John Edson Wason, 88, died peacefully on April 19, 2009.

    He is survived by his second wife, Ena Wason; his four children, Wendy of Colorado, James (Nancy) of Colorado, William of Texas, and John (Sharon) of Arizona; and his grandchildren, Daniel, Jessica, Max and Joshua.

    John was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen, and his granddaughter Camille.

  • Keith E. Freymiller, 83

    Keith Freymiller, 83, of Indian Hills died peacefully in his home during the night of April 16, 2009.

    He was born on July 28, 1925, in Marion Township, Wis., to Chrisoph and Marie Kasper Freymiller. He was the second child of five. His father died when Keith was 8, and his mother moved with five children under age 10 to live with her parents, Emil and Emma Kasper, in Lancaster, Wis.

  • Elden Deroy Pettit II, 52

    Evergreen resident Elden Deroy Pettit II, 52, also known as “Shorty” and “PJ,” died March 30 at St. Anthony Hospital in Denver.

    He was born March 29, 1957, in St. Francis, Kan.

  • William L. Vansant, 81

    William L. Vansant, 81, of Evergreen, passed away Friday, April 10.

    He was born in Ansley, Neb., and was a retiree of United. Bill retired along with his wife, Lee, in Arizona. He was the kindest, caring person to everyone. He thought of others before himself.

    Bill is survived by wife Lee, son Billy and two daughters, Barbara and Kandy.

    He was a longtime resident of Evergreen.

    Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 24, at The Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park.

    In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Laradon Hall in Denver.

  • Dale Robertson

    Dr. Dale Robertson was unexpectedly freed from pain on April 6, 2009, after he entered St. Anthony Central Hospital. While he had long been suffering from chronic pain, the cause of his death was unrelated complications.

  • Dennis Chynoweth

    He is survived by his wife, Sue; son Kirk, daughter-in-law Kelli and granddaughter Katherine; sisters Gerry, Sharon and Dawn; brothers-in-law Ross and Gene; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Dennis will be truly and dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. We thank him for so many happy times and special memories that we will cherish forever. May he rest in peace.

    A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2009, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, staging area A.

  • Schovanek memorial service canceled

    The memorial gathering for David Schovanek on April 11 in Indian Hills has been canceled.

  • David Otakar Schovanek

    Indian Hills resident David Otakar Schovanek passed away March 11, 2009, at his home after a courageous battle with small-cell lung cancer. He was 39.

    He worked as a painter in the construction industry. On June 26, 2004, he married Christine Ann Roth on Lookout Mountain. He was an avid poker player and liked to fish.

    Besides Christine, he is survived by his stepfather, Jan Tichy, and brother, Tommy Tichy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vladimir and Milada.

  • Clyde Kirk Jr., 85

    A 54-year Kittredge resident, Clyde Kirk Jr. passed away March 23, 2009, at St. Anthony Central Hospital. He was 85.

    He was born June 29, 1923, in Des Moines, Iowa. During World War II, he served as a gunner’s mate in the U.S. Navy. For 27 years he worked in canning quality control for Coors Brewery in Golden. Prior to that he worked as a chemist for the ARCO Steel Mill in Denver.
