  • John Dorr, 86

    John “Jack” Dorr of Evergreen passed away on Dec. 14, 2009. He was born on Jan. 28, 1923, in Antigo, Wis., the son of Myn and O.J. Dorr. He was married to Marian Friday on Aug. 4, 1945, in Fond du Lac, Wis.

    He served in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years and during World War II was a glider pilot with landings at Normandy on D-Day and in Holland, southern France and Germany.

  • Bill Roberts, 73

    Bill Roberts of Evergreen passed away suddenly on Dec. 11, 2009, at the age of 73.

    He is survived by a loving wife of 26 years, Betty; two brothers, Don and Richard Roberts; two children, Jeff and Kevin Roberts; three stepchildren, Cindy Lows and Steve and Greg Rollins; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends.

  • Nancy Gail (Sorensen) Woodrow, 55

    Nancy Gail (Sorensen) Woodrow, 55, formerly of Evergreen, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, surrounded by members of her family and dear pets.

    She resided in San Jose, Calif., Forest Lake, Minn., and Richfield, Minn.

    She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Sorensen. She is survived by her husband and best friend of 30 years, David, of San Jose, Calif.; father, Curtis E. Sorensen of Stacy, Minn.; sister, Linda (Tim) Wilmes of Florissant, Colo.; brother Lyle Sorensen of Stacy, Minn.; and loving friends.

  • Russell L. Butler II

    Russell L. Butler II of Evergreen passed away on Dec. 11, 2009.

    He was born on Jan. 9, 1946, in Midland, Mich., and had lived in Colorado since the early 1980s. An avid skier, fly-fisherman, loving husband and attentive father, creative artist, animal lover and caring grandfather, Russ was an insatiable force of life to all that knew him. He dedicated his entire career to the landscape architecture industry in order to create environments that leave the world a better place.

  • Arlene W. Judy, 89

    Arlene W. Judy died with dignity and surrounded by love at her home in Idledale on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009. She was 89.

  • Brandi Jo Matthews-Underwood, 36

    Brandi Jo Matthews-Underwood, 36, of Golden passed away Dec. 10, 2009. She was born in Mesa, Ariz., on Oct. 4, 1973. Brandi had made her home in Arizona, Tennessee and Colorado. She went to work for Home Depot in 1993. Brandi loved her family, crafts and travel.

    A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at The Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park, followed by a reception.

  • Robert Brant Voshall, 78

    Former Evergreen resident Bob Voshall died in Parksville, British Columbia, on Dec. 8, 2009.

    He was born April 4, 1931, in Hannibal, Mo., the son of Thelma and Harold Voshall. He spent his formative years in Pittsfield, Ill. Bob graduated from Colorado College in 1953, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He married Colleen Jacobsen and pursued a career as a sales representative for housewares.

  • Jean Ayars, 53

    Jean Ayars, 53, of Evergreen lost her battle with cancer on Dec. 2, 2009. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends.

    Jean is survived by her children, Kathryn and Christopher Ball; her parents, James and Dolores Ayars; four sisters; and one niece and six nephews.

    Jean was a devoted mother, beloved daughter, wonderful sister and true friend. She lived life fully, with amazing courage and strength. Those who knew and loved her know that the quality of Jean's life far exceeded the short time she was with us.

  • Jennifer Gail Capers Wehrlen, 36

    Jennifer Gail Capers Wehrlen, 36, of Evergreen passed away Dec. 1, 2009. She was born in Pascagoula, Miss., and raised in Dallas, where she attended the Talented and Gifted portion of the Dallas Independent School District. Jennifer and her husband moved to Evergreen from Austin, Texas, two years ago.

    She was an artist, mother, sister and friend — both here and with folks from Texas. Locally, many knew her from Wilmot Elementary School, where she was very involved and assisted in the recent successful fund-raiser.

  • Mary Richards Meyer

    Mary Richards Meyer, born May 24, 1937, in Putnam, Conn., died Nov. 15, 2009, in Denver.

    She was the daughter of Leonard B. and Elizabeth Richards of Harrisburg, Pa., both deceased.

    She was a longtime resident of Evergreen.

    She is survived by her son, Christopher R. Wearner of Evergreen; and brother Leonard B. Richards of Oakmont, Pa.
