  • Robert H. Bruce, 57

    Robert H. Bruce passed away peacefully Aug. 13, 2011, at home with his family after a five-month battle with kidney cancer.

    He is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter Jennifer; and sons William and Samuel. Also surviving are his mother, Olga, brother, David, and sister, Helen. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Robert.

    He graduated from CSU and was a commercial real estate broker. He was an active board member of the Jefferson Economic Council. He served on the Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department.

  • Peter 'Mac' McFarlane memorial service

    A memorial service will be held for Peter "Mac" McFarlane at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Veterans Commemorative Walk in Buchanan Park. Afterward, a celebration of Mac's life will take place at the Evergreen Elks Lodge.

    Retired Col. Peter Neil “Mac” McFarlane, 72, a resident of Evergreen and formerly of the Washington, D.C., area, passed away at home suddenly on Wednesday, June 29, 2011.

  • May Carpenter, 99

    May (Pat) Carpenter of Evergreen died Sunday, July 24, at home.

    May (Patterson) was born in Rochester, Mich., on April 21, 1912. After high school she attended Highland Park Nursing School and went on to be a surgical nurse. 

    She married Dr. William S. Carpenter and lived in Detroit and Bloomfield Hills, Mich., until moving to Colorado in 1994 after the passing of her husband.

  • Ann Sowden Schadle, 60

    Former Evergreen resident Ann Sowden Schadle, 60, passed away from heart failure on June 23, 2011.
    She was born in South Carolina on March 4, 1951.
    Ann was a well-known and popular travel agent who first worked at Evergreen Travel and then at All About Travel starting in 1990 until 1998.

  • Paul Anthony Falzone, 58

    Paul Falzone, 58, was born on March 18, 1953, and continued on his spiritual journey on June 14, 2011. Paulie was born in Buffalo, N.Y. He traveled the country for more than 15 years as a singer and stage performer. He discovered the loves of his life, wife of 21 years, Cindy, and children Leslie and Brett Weisz in Colorado.

    The family lived in the joy of song. Paulie's legacy continues on through the voices of the children, who grew up to be entertainers as well. Paulie was right up there with the best. He had a smooth voice, smiling face and big personality.

  • Robert Roy Owen, 89

    Robert Roy Owen, 89, a longtime resident of Evergreen, passed away peacefully July 17, 2011, in his home. He was just one month shy of his 90th birthday.

    A 1942 graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, his engineering degrees took him to jobs in Hawaii, Delaware, Michigan, Europe and Australia, and the Ivory Coast before settling in Colorado. In addition to his achievements as a corporate leader, he held numerous patents for various pieces of machinery used in agriculture.

  • William P. ‘Bill’ Powers

    William P. “Bill” Powers of East Lyme, Conn., an educator and civic leader, died peacefully on May 29, 2011, after a short illness.

    A Niantic, Conn., resident for nearly 60 years, he was born on Dec. 23, 1921, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Joseph Leo and Katherine (Blake) Powers, both Connecticut natives.

  • Phillip Ray Moorehead, 56

    Phillip Ray Moorehead, 56, born in 1955 in Mena, Ark., passed away peacefully on July 19, 2011, surrounded by his wife, four sons and one daughter. He loved his family more than life itself and had the Lord in his heart as he passed into the eternal life.

    He was an accomplished athlete as a young man and was a devoted father, grandfather and husband. Through much pain, he was ever thankful for the wondrous blessings of his family and friends and to have found the love of his life and soul mate, Sandy.

  • Reece Ray Arnett, 88

    Reece Ray Arnett, 88, passed away June 18, 2011, at his home in Pine.

    He is survived by sons Jim (Conni) Arnett and Richard Arnett; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at The Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park, 26624 N. Turkey Creek Road. Burial at the Conifer Cemetery.
