  • Donald Ashbaugh, 63

    Donald Ashbaugh, a resident of Conifer and Evergreen for the past 34 years, passed away Aug. 31, 2011, in Denver.

    He was raised in McKeesport, Pa., and served tours with the U.S. Army in both Germany and Ethiopia. He attended college in California and Pennsylvania before moving to Colorado in 1974. Don was happily married to his wife, Sue, for 40 years. He worked as a land surveyor for the Bureau of Land Management, with 32 years service.

  • Diane Kay Purdy, 50

    Diane Kay Purdy, a recent resident of Evergreen for 19 years, passed away in Idaho on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011.

    She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Richard Purdy, currently residing in Littleton; mother Gloria Bryant of California; sister Cheryl Wells of California; and brother David Klomp of Nevada.

    A visitation will be held at 3 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at Evergreen Lutheran Church, 5980 Highway 73 in Evergreen. A reception will follow the service.

  • Steven Thomas Schmiedbauer, 53

    Steven Thomas Schmiedbauer, 53, of Lakewood passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011. He spent his youth through early adult years in Conifer.

    Steve did maintenance for the Platte Canyon School District and for the Evergreen Park and Recreation District. He was known by all as “Mr. Fixit.”  Recently he spent his time and energy on his love of creating handcrafted jewelry and attending many craft shows. 

    Family was his priority. He loved hunting and fishing as well. 

  • Edmund J. ‘Ned’ Koser, 82

    Edmund J. “Ned” Koser, 82, of Evergreen died peacefully at home Friday, Aug. 26, after a brief illness. He was raised in Ardmore, Pa., , served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Valley Forge, attended the University of Maryland. In 1985, he retired from the U.S. Forest Service.

     

    He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ellen; son Karl; daughters Karen Padilla and Barbara Koser; and granddaughter Brittiana Padilla.

  • Thomas Ray Wilson, 65

    Thomas Ray Wilson of Broomfield died peacefully in his home on Aug. 11, 2011. He was 65 years old, and was a software engineer before he retired.

    Tom was a brilliant mathematician, was a National Merit Scholar, and attended the California Institute of Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University, continuing his education in applied mathematics and computer science.

  • Diane Kay Purdy, 50

    Diane Kay Purdy, 50, a recent resident of Evergreen for 19 years, passed away in Idaho on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011.

    Diane was known in the Evergreen area for her many years of involvement in child care as the local child care coordinator for EF Au Pair and volunteering at local churches for MOPS babysitting. Her participation as a group leader for Casual Gourmet and newsletter editor for Evergreen Newcomers kept her busy in the community, and she also worked as the office manager for Martin and Wood Water Consulting in Genesee.

  • Roy P. ‘Tom’ Thomas

    Roy P. Thomas, better known as Tom, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Aug. 24, 2011. He was 89.

    Tom was born in Indiana on Dec. 21, 1921, served in the Army in WWII and moved to Denver in 1948. He married his wife, Pat, in 1950. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this spring. Tom and Pat moved to Evergreen in 1950 and raised three daughters, Kathy, Kristy and Lee. He worked for many years at Olde’s Texaco in the heart of Evergreen and was an active member of the Evergreen Lutheran Church.

  • Alan Dale Cook, 62

    Alan Dale Cook, 62, of Kittredge died recently.
    He was the son of Beverly Cook (deceased) and Bob Cook. He is survived by his sister, Cathy Boll.
    A memorial service will be held at 11:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at Fort Logan Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver in Staging Area C at the north gate.

  • Dorothy B. Anamier, 87

    Dorothy B. Anamier, 87, of Evergreen died Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at her home.

  • George Dunkin

    George Dunkin passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2011.

    He is mourned by his wife, Nancy; children PJ Gieseman and husband Mike, Glen Dunkin and wife Lisa; stepchildren Lisa Lindsey-Brandli and Dustin Lindsey and wife Barbara; five grandchildren, Liam, Justin, Matthew, Nicole and Noah; sister Rose-Mary Radick; and nephew Russell Wheeler.

    A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Evergreen Memorial Park, 26624 N. Turkey Creek Road.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Evergreen Chamber Orchestra or Mt. Evans Hospice.
