A momma bear climbed a tree after her two cubs were shot by a resident on Lupine Drive on Tuesday morning. The bear left the area about 8 p.m. that evening.
Evergreen homeowner shoots two bear cubs

An Evergreen homeowner shot two bear cubs early Tuesday in the 27000 block of Lupine Drive as they were trying to get into his trash. One cub died instantly; the other had to be put down.

The live round also hit a window of a neighbor’s house across the street. No one was injured.

The Sheriff's Office on Wednesday identified the homeowner as Daniel C. Williams and listed the following potential charges Williams could face:

• Illegal discharge of a firearm, a felony.
