Over a cup of joe a few weeks ago, three women set out to bring some sanity to Evergreen. Jon Stewart, Comedy Central's host of “The Daily Show,” hosted the Rally to Restore Sanity in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 30, and Katharine Hahn, Suzi Hoffer and Gail Montgomery felt that Evergreen should do the same. Political ads full of venom, conversations leading to screaming matches, and accusations laced with hatred all spoke to a need for a rally.
Thanks to the enthusiastic trick-or-treating youths of Evergreen, soldiers serving in Afghanistan will once again enjoy a huge belated Halloween treat.
The second annual “Give to Get Halloween Candy Bribe-Back” at the Island in Hiwan was an overwhelming success. Just before dusk on Halloween night, Dr. Courtney College, local pediatric dentist, along with many costumed volunteers, set up shop in the middle of the popular trick-or-treating neighborhood. Kids of all ages donated some of their hard-earned candy for soldiers serving overseas.
