  • BIRTHS: Pedersen twins

    Jamie and Kyle Pedersen are delighted to announce the birth of their twin sons, Wyatt Robert and Eugene David Pedersen.

    The boys were born under the blue moon on Aug. 31, 2012, in Hudson, Wis. Wyatt was born at 9:49 p.m. and weighed 7 pounds, and he was 19 inches long.  Eugene was born at 9:55 p.m. and weighed 6 pounds, and he was 19 inches long. Their 2-year-old big sister, Cora, loves her new brothers.
    Proud grandparents are Karyn and Dave Pedersen of Evergreen and Diane and Denny Lowe of Willow River, Minn.

  • ‘Seasons of Our Mountains’ calendars unveiled at party

    Thirteen photographers were honored at the “Seasons of Our Mountains” calendar party hosted by Evergreen National Bank on Nov. 8.

  • Eagle Scout project seeks donations for trail reconstruction project

    Evergreen High School student Ian Klein is collecting donations and funds for an Eagle Scout project to restore a trail at the Humphrey Memorial Park & Museum of Evergreen.
    Klein estimates that he will need $800 in donations for supplies. He is also asking for a sponsor to fund lunch for about 50 workers on July 12 and Aug. 9.
    The project will be to restore a trail, and to place rest stops and benches along the trail. The trail is named the Jim and Joe Trail after the original owners of the ranch.

  • Local kettle donations help during Colorado fires

    Soon after getting word of the disastrous fire in Colorado Springs, members of the Evergreen Salvation Army Extension Unit voted to send a $5,000 check to the Intermountain Headquarters to assist in providing relief services throughout Colorado.
    The donation represents about 12 percent of what was raised in the annual Red Kettle drive last November and December when area volunteers rang bells in front of King Soopers, Safeway and Walmart.

  • Dickson inducted into Adams State Athletics Hall of Fame

    Craig Dickson, a 1985 graduate of Evergreen High School, was recently inducted into the Adams State Athletics Hall of Fame. Dickson won the national NAIA Cross Country Championship in 1986, was a member of three national championship teams and was an eight-time all-America in cross country and track. 

  • GOOD FOR YOU: Mountain Area Science Fair winners

    The Mountain Area Science Fair was held Feb. 10-11 at Evergreen Country Day School. Entries were judged in two divisions: second and third grade, and fourth through sixth grade.

    Schools participating this year were Bergen, Carlson, Dear Creek, Elk Creek, Evergreen Country Day, Marshdale, Parmalee, Ralston, West Jeff and Wilmot. More than 200 projects were judged.

     

  • ENGAGEMENT: Winther – Hawley

    Leslie MacPherson proudly announces the engagement of her daughter, Stephanie Winther, to Nathan Hawley.

    Winther was a 2004 graduate of Evergreen High School and attended the University of San Diego, where she graduated with a degree in accounting. She currently is a certified public accountant for Hein and Associates in Denver.

    Hawley grew up in Saxonburg, Pa., and attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where he received a master’s in accountancy.

  • Local children celebrate Constitution Week

    On Sept. 22, two Wilmot Elementary School classes helped the Mountain Rendezvous Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution celebrate Constitution Week by ringing the school bell near the old schoolhouse.

    In addition, the Sunday school children at Church of Transfiguration rang the church’s bell on Sept. 18. Bells were rung to celebrate the signing of the Constitution 224 years ago. The tradition of celebrating the Constitution was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution and signed into law in 1956.

    Justin Ray, son of David and Mary Jane Ray of Evergreen, is engaged to Robin Gilmer, daughter of Claud and Tracy Gilmer of San Antonio, Texas.
