“Guys and Dolls” opened in New York City in 1950. The show, which tells the story of two very different types of love, through song and dance, has been popular ever since. The Evergreen Chorale staged successful productions in 1982 and 1997, and is now more excited than ever to present a three-weekend run of this award-winning Broadway show.

Ron Welch, a longtime Chorale member, appeared as Nathan Detroit in the 1997 production, and Welch is now behind the curtain, directing a new cast of 34 actors.

Barbara Wright is a mild-mannered, gentle spirit whose interests run from quantum physics to international business. Her true passions, however, are the horses that she tends to at Harmony Horseworks, her Conifer-based horse sanctuary, and art — specifically, her acrylic and oil paintings, which frequently have her beloved horses as the subject.

Indian Hills has a rich history — it once was the summer hunting ground for the Ute Indians and later served as the summer playground for Colorado’s artists, writers and creative visionaries.

So it seems only fitting that Evergreen native Steve Sonnen and his wife, Jenni, have turned the historic Indian Hills Trading Post into Mirada Fine Art Gallery, a cozy spot that manages to showcase contemporary art with an ambience steeped in tradition.

In recent years, television commercials have bragged that “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” The Evergreen Players have brought their own version of Las Vegas to our mountain community for New Year’s Eve. The Players are sponsoring a rip-roaring shindig complete with gambling, dining and cabaret entertainment. This “Shake, Rattle and Roll” night should be a powerhouse party that will leave revelers saying, “What happens at Center/Stage stays at Center/Stage.”
