Never fear. Walgreens will be here.

Walgreens will definitely be opening in Evergreen by the end of August, according to a company spokeswoman.

Construction issues have delayed the original opening date, according to Carol Hively, corporate spokeswoman for Walgreens. She declined to elaborate on what those issues might be.

Rumors circulating around Evergreen that Walgreens is backing out or that the company is having a hard time hiring workers are false, she said.

Walgreens’ fiscal year ends Aug. 31, and the company likes to have all of its new stores open by that time, she said.

Irish pub will open Aug. 1

Trinity Irish Pub and Restaurant is expected to open this weekend, according to owner Jerry Howard. The pub, at 29017 Hotel Way near El Rancho, will have a full restaurant and a well-stocked bar.

27 years and counting

Jeff’s Auto Repair is celebrating its 27th year in business in Evergreen. Even though Jeff is no longer with the shop, current owner Clark Haling says the shop’s name is synonymous with hometown service.

The hometown service is evidenced by the three mechanics who have worked at Jeff’s Auto Repair for a long time. Mechanic Chris Chase, for example, has been working there since it opened in 1981, Haling said.

Haling, an Evergreen resident since 1993, said he also has been known to give customers a ride to their home or work while their vehicles are being serviced.

He bought the shop, at 3022 Evergreen Parkway, in 2000 after leaving a corporate sales manager position. He said he wanted to own a business in Evergreen.
