The Colorado Department of Transportation will close Colorado 5 at the top portion of the Mount Evans Highway for the season at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
CDOT closes the 5-mile segment from Summit Lake to the top of Mount Evans the day after Labor Day in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service.
The remaining 10 miles on Highway 103 from Echo Lake to Summit Lake will remain open until early October unless weather creates adverse driving conditions.
