The Hosty Duo will perform original music during the opening summer concert at Evergreen Lake Park on Wednesday, June 5.

An accomplished guitarist, Hosty also plays harmonica and kazoo and uses foot pedals to stomp bass lines during performances with his sidekick, drummer Michael Byars.

Those who come to the free concert sponsored by the Evergreen Park and Recreation District can also enjoy original compositions performed by students at the Evergreen School of Music.

This year’s inaugural concert will be a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Evergreen Lake House, where prize-winning photographs will be on display.

The popular concert series continues weekly throughout the summer with a variety of groups, including Sticky Mulligan; the Mr. David Booker Swingtet, noted for its mix of jump blues and swing; and Georgia-based group Highway 55.

The band Tunisia closes the season with a performance on Aug. 28.

The concerts take place on Wednesday evenings from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Lake park on Upper Bear Creek Road.
