Voters in the Evergreen fire district appeared to send a mixed message with their selections for two contested board seats in last week’s election, simultaneously choosing an incumbent and a founder of the group BEST, which engineered a recall of two board members last fall.
BEST co-founder George Kling and board president Chick Dykeman received 212 and 197 votes, respectively, to defeat three other candidates for the two seats.
