Pusedu’s second-half flurry carries Evergreen past D’Evelyn

LAKEWOOD — Jahna Pusedu scored three times — all in the second half — as Evergreen won its third straight game with a 3-0 shutout of D’Evelyn on April 4 at Lakewood Memorial Field.

The Lady Cougars (5-1-1) got assists from Kylee Petrik, Emma Thiesen and Zoe Peterson.

Sarah Temple stopped both shots on goal by the Lady Jaguars.

The loss dropped D’Evelyn to 2-5.


Evergreen girls, boys each

take third at Eagle Valley meet

GYPSUM — Both the Evergreen girls and boys track and field teams placed third at the Eagle Valley Invitational on April 5. The girls finished with 108 points and the boys with 81. Eagle Valley won both the girls and boys team titles.

The top finishes for the EHS girls were victories from Caitlin Schmitt in the 1,600 meters in 5 minutes, 32.57 seconds. Anne Lauder won the triple jump with a leap of 35 feet, 5 inches.

The top boys finishers were wins for Alex Aafedt and Matt Kline in the 1,600 and 3,200, respectively. Aafedt won the 1,600 in 4:47.82, while Kline won the 3,200 in 10:45.


Lady Cougars summer camp scheduled for June 2-5

The annual Evergreen Lady Cougars girls basketball camp is scheduled for June 2-5 at Evergreen Middle School.

The camp will run daily from 1-3 p.m. for incoming third- through fifth-graders and from 3-5 p.m. for incoming sixth- through eighth-graders.

Campers will learn fundamental skills, shooting techniques, ball handling and dribbling. There will be team competitions and contests.

Participants should bring to camp daily gym clothing, court shoes, a basketball with their name on it and water.

Cost is $65, which includes a camp T-shirt.

Lady Cougars finish third at Cyclone Invitational in Pueblo

PUEBLO — The Evergreen Lady Cougars placed third out of eight schools at the two-day Cyclone Girls Tennis Invitational on April 4-5. EHS finished with 56 points, behind only Ponderosa and Pueblo West.

The tournament was played at Pueblo City Park.

Evergreen returns to action on April 9 with a 4A Jeffco League showdown with rival Conifer.
