D’Evelyn edges Evergreen for 4A Jeffco League title
— D’Evelyn High edged defending conference champion Evergreen 304-311 to capture the 4A Jeffco League boys golf championship Sept. 9 at Raccoon Creek Golf Course. D’Evelyn ended up beating the Cougars by 12 strokes during the regular season.
EHS senior Kyle Peterson, however, repeated as the league’s Most Valuable Player. He carded a 74 at Raccoon Creek. Fellow senior Kyle Malazdrewicz shot a 77 and freshman Liam Short scored a 78.
Evergreen will play in the 4A Metro Regional on Sept. 17 at Indian Peaks Golf Course in Lafayette.

Classical Academy rallies in the second half to top EHS
— Andrew Register and Nathan Lofton each rushed for touchdowns as The Classical Academy rallied from a first-half deficit to topple Evergreen 27-14 on Sept. 6.
Cougars quarterback Jack Curtis completed 11-of-21 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown to Kip Nilson. He also threw two interceptions, but rushed 12 times for 80 yards and a score.
