Evergreen places 4th in leagues, will play in 4A regionals

The Evergreen Lady Cougars landed the No. 31 seed in the 36-team 4A regionals and will play in the three-team Region 6 bracket at Thompson Valley High School on Nov. 3.
The Lady Cougars, coming off a fourth-place finish in the 4A Jeffco League tournament, which included a thrilling five-set match with Golden, are 9-14 on the season.
Kira Nielander had 19 kills and 11 digs against Golden on Oct. 23, while Andrea Eddy added 22 assists and 10 digs.
Montrose, seeded 19th, and host Thompson Valley, the No. 6 seed, are also in the field.
The regional winner will advance to the 4A state tournament Nov. 9-10 at the Denver Coliseum.

Evergreen posts highest 4A score at Region 3 meet
— Evergreen topped all 4A schools at the Region 3 tournament at Cherry Creek High School on Oct. 26 with 170.225 points.
Lone Star was second with 161.675.
The Lady Cougars’ total was the second highest among all 4A schools in all the regionals, just behind rival Elizabeth.
Evergreen will compete at the 4A state gymnastics championships Nov. 2-3 at Thornton High School.
