Peterson, Cougars lead charge at Hyland Hills Jeffco meet
— Kyle Peterson carded a tourament-best 71 and Evergreen had five golfers in the top 15 en route to a 12-stroke victory at the 4A Jeffco League match at Hyland Hills golf course on Aug. 22.
Evergreen, as a team, scored a 316 total, finishing 12 strokes ahead of second-place D’Evelyn. Wheat Ridge was a distant third with a 359 total.
Sam Theil fired a 79 to place second. Other finishers in the top 15 were Kyle Malazdrewicz (83, tied for fifth), Ben Moore (83, tied for fifth) and Luke Hadesll (91, tied for 14th).
  Conifer placed sixth with a 400 team total. Bryan Wholey tied for ninth with an 87.

Evergreen’s Chase helps U.S. to silver medal at worlds
PLOVDIV, Bulgaria
— Evergreen’s Kendall Chase, along with three other rowers, took second place in the junior women’s four competition at the 2012 World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships on Aug. 18.
Chase, along with Georgia Radcliffe (Vienna, Va.), Deirdre Fitzpatrick (Cheshire, Conn.), and Ruth Narode (Portland, Ore.) finished in 6 minutes, 56.44 seconds. China won the race in 6:53.10.
