Sheriff’s Office investigating mailbox thefts

-A A +A
By Sandy Barnes

Several mailbox thefts have occurred in Evergreen in recent weeks, and the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office is investigating, said spokesperson Jacki Kelley.

Cluster mailboxes were targets of the approximately 10 attempted and actual thefts, which began in Genesee and moved into Evergreen, Kelley said. She said the mailboxes are being pried open.

“That is what seems to be the target now,” she said.

Although residents might consider metal mailboxes grouped in clusters more secure than individual ones, that is not the case, Kelley added.
