The Evergreen Downtown Business Association is hosting the 18th annual Holiday Walk on Friday, with a tree-lighting ceremony at the Lake House and a festive downtown street party for people of all ages.

The evening of family fun starts at 5 p.m. when Santa and Mrs. Santa Claus arrive at the Lake House in a fire truck. After the tree-lighting, the Evergreen Lutheran Church choir will lead the singing of Christmas carols.

Afterward, the public is invited to follow the path of luminarias on the traditional Holiday Walk from the Lake House to downtown, where local merchants will be open until 9 p.m. offering activities, treats and other attractions.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be posing for photos by Wendy Schott Photography for $5 each at the Ice House Cafe beginning at 6:45 p.m.

The town will be alive with a number of outdoor entertainers at the main stage in front of Evergreen Crafters, at the Evergreen Mountain Village and near Girlfriends clothing store.

Live reindeer will be on hand for viewing in a space near the Qwest building at the end of the boardwalk.

“It’s a community event the Downtown Business Association hosts. It’s not about sales and merchandise,” said Chris Vinci, EDBA president.

Shuttle service locations are at Hiwan Homestead, Church of the Transfiguration, the Lake House and the RTD parking lot next to Christ the King Church on Highway 74.
