A fast-moving hailstorm on Thursday afternoon dropped golf-ball-size hail that tore holes in roofs and stripped trees of leaves.
The storm left a half-mile-wide swath of destruction, also denting cars and breaking some signs of Evergreen businesses. Residents saw hail a couple of inches deep on Upper Bear Creek Road, too. It did not completely melt until midday Friday.
“It was like bullets being shot out of the sky — marble size up to golf-ball size,” said Serena Masterson, a financial services representative at Bank of the West, 3779 Evergreen Parkway.
