MONTROSE – Evergreen junior Kyle Peterson tied with four others for 16th with a 10-over-par 154 at the two-day 4A boys golf state championship at The Links at Cobble Creek.
Senior Sam Theil tied for 23rd with a 13-over 157, while Kyle Malazdrewicz tied for 50th with a 22-over 166. Theil was only 3-over after Day 1, but struggled with five bogeys and three triple bogeys in the second round. He did, however, eagle the Par-5, 556-yard No. 9 on Oct. 2.
Pueblo Centennial's Jacob Allenback won the state title with a 5-under 139 total, holding off a hard-charging Josh McLaughlin of Thompson Valley by two strokes.
Pueblo South won the 4A team title after winning a playoff over Valor Christian on the second playoff hole. Both teams shot an 11-over-par 443 in regulation. Evergreen finished seventh with a 45-over 477.
