Three organizations are joining forces to produce a public fund-raiser to support programs that connect children and families to nature. The Party for Parks will be held at the Red Rocks Visitor Center from 6 to 10 p.m. April 5. Tickets are $50 at www.jeffcooutdoors.org.
The Jefferson County Outdoors Foundation, the Denver Mountain Parks Association and Great Outdoors Colorado are sponsoring the gala, which celebrates multiple anniversaries. Proceeds benefit nonprofit Jeffco Outdoors, formerly known as the Jeffco Open Space Foundation.
The event honors the 40th, 100th and 20th anniversaries of Jefferson County Open Space, Denver Mountain Parks and Great Outdoors Colorado, respectively. The three groups’ combined efforts have preserved more than 62,000 acres of land in Jefferson County.
The event will feature a bluegrass band, a fancy picnic menu and drinks. Auction items include golf, restaurant meals, numerous outdoor-oriented experience packages, and outdoor gear. A custom-fit bike, a weekend in Vancouver and a Pine Valley Ranch stargazing outing are among the goodies up for bids.
Proceeds go to the Jeffco Outdoors Foundation, which helps pay expenses for students to visit the Lookout Mountain and Majestic View nature centers, the Hiwan Homestead Museum, Dinosaur Ridge and other parks.
