Evergreen Country Day School is a hidden gem
Did you know we have a wonderful, independent school right here in Evergreen?
I did not until last year. It is hard to imagine such a beautiful school in our own mountain area. It is deserving of more local news coverage. We moved here six years ago with our then-5-year-old son and spoke to many people. No one ever mentioned Evergreen Country Day. Since then, it has moved to a fabulous, inspiring facility behind Home Depot and has grown to 200-plus students.
I can speak so highly of this school first hand. Our son went from a bored B student to a highly motivated A student since joining ECDS. He will be entering middle school next year, which has expanded to two sections. No doubt our public schools do a decent job, but many kids do not learn well in a room with 30 kids; ECDS does not permit a class size larger than 18. I particularly like its emphasis on respect and critical thinking, going “outside the box,” giving kids the necessary skills to be successful in life.
Some ECDS facts: past recipient of Morgridge Foundation Grant, which recognizes schools committed to excellence in 21st-century skills like critical thinking and communications. The school has excellent financial backing and is committed to being  as affordable as possible by offering tuition assistance.
This school is another great draw for real estate and living here, another wonderful gem in our “diamond in the rough” of Evergreen.
