A 25-year-old Golden man was killed Friday night when his car went out of control on Highway 74 between Kittredge and Idledale.

The victim, Matthew Anglin, was traveling east on Highway 74 about 9:30 p.m., according to Colorado State Patrol spokesman Nate Reid. The 2002 Ford Taurus traveled into the westbound lane and skidded off the north side of the road.

The car hit a rock embankment, spun, and rolled 1½ times, landing on the highway on its roof. Anglin was not wearing a seatbelt, and he was ejected from the car, Reid said. He died at the scene.

Excessive speed was suspected as a cause for the crash, Reid said. No other vehicles were involved, and no one else was in Anglin’s car.
