Dredging Evergreen Lake is a major project on the radar screen of Dave Lighthart, the recently named general manager of the Evergreen Metropolitan District.
Removing sand and silt from the lake is necessary to ensure sufficient capacity for the water district, Lighthart said.
As sediment builds in the lake, it affects the volume of water, he explained. Water capacity in the lake has decreased from 600 to 400 acre-feet in recent years.
