Lorye McLeod has joined the Mountain Resource Center as its new chief executive officer.
McLeod replaces Sharon Schrage, who resigned in early August due to health issues. Schrage had served as MRC executive director since 2007.
McLeod’s first day was Aug. 29.
“I’m excited to (come) to Colorado and continue to help people,” McLeod said. “My No. 1 passion in life has always been to serve others. That has been my whole career.”
McLeod served as executive director of the Community Action Partnership in Nebraska from 2006 to 2012. Before that, she was executive director for The Link, a nonprofit that served at-risk youths, from 2001 to 2006.
“I love forming collaborations, and I look forward to continuing all the partnerships MRC has developed over the years,” McLeod said.
Mary Alice Cohen, the MRC’s director of operations, said McLeod was the obvious choice after a nationwide search.
“We believe her leadership and expansive experience in supporting families will be a tremendous addition to the MRC and our community,” Cohen said.
McLeod now lives in Bailey.
“I enjoy everything the mountains have to offer … hiking and other outdoor activities,” McLeod said.
With offices in Conifer, Bailey and Evergreen, the Mountain Resource Center provides family support, a health clinic, domestic violence services and aid during community crises.
