Rose Lyon, treasurer of Mountain Foothills Rotary Club, presented a $1,200 donation in the form of a check to Maren Schreiber on June 1 at the Lake House in Evergreen. Schreiber is the program director for special needs with the Evergreen Park and Recreation District.
The Rotary Club raised a total of $4,400 in ticket sales, the most ever raised in the history of the Ice Melt Barrel contest. Of that amount, another $1,000 is dedicated to scholarships for special-needs kids. The contest ended April 12, 2010, at 2:43 p.m., when the barrel began to float.
