A memorial service for Bob Chamberlain, Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District board president, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Bear Valley Church, 10001 W. Jewell Ave. in Lakewood.
Firefighters and firefighting apparatus from Inter-Canyon Fire/Rescue, the Elk Creek Fire Department, Indian Hills Fire/Rescue, Platte Canyon Fire Rescue, Evergreen Fire/Rescue and West Metro Fire Rescue will be on hand to honor Chamberlain’s service to the community.
Chamberlain, 62, was in a restored military-style plane doing a test run for a July 4 flyover in Tehachapi, Calif., when the plane left the formation and crashed in a field. The National Transportation Safety Board is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
Chamberlain had served for 10 years on the Inter-Canyon Fire District board of directors, almost half of that time as president. He was a colonel in the U.S. Air Force until his retirement in 1990, and he retired as a captain and flight examiner with United Airlines in 2006.
Chamberlain is survived by his wife, three daughters and grandchildren.
