There was no such thing as canned beer, the average American wage was 22 cents an hour, sugar cost 4 cents a pound, there were 45 stars on Old Glory, and 203 murders were reported nationwide. And, on April 6, 1906, in the small Pennsylvania coal-mining town of Carbondale, Isobel Bruning was born.
