Lewis-Palmer’s first-half flurry does in Cougars

MONUMENT — Kourtney Guetlein scored a pair of first-half goals and assisted on another as top-seeded Lewis-Palmer scored a 4-2 victory over Evergreen in the second round of the 4A girls soccer tournament on May 15.

Her first goal came on a wide-open net after Guetlein got past junior goaltender Kara Turner, who had come out to stop the breakaway. Guetlein’s second goal snuck into the front left corner.

Noelle Limbird and Lindsey Ryals also scored for the Rangers (17-0), who advanced to the May 18 quarterfinals against eighth-seeded Silver Creek.

Evergreen (12-5), the tournament’s 17th seed, got goals from Haley Stading and Anya Kaufmann. Geena Jackson assisted on Stading’s first-half goal.

Turner made nine saves.
