Despite the invasion of Chinook winds on Tuesday, it looks like the ice on Evergreen Lake is going to hold up long enough to be good for skating on New Year’s Eve. Temperatures on Monday and Tuesday were in the 40s. As of Tuesday, the ice was about 12 inches thick.
“If we keep getting a breeze, it should be OK,” said Cathy Peterson, facilities specialist with the Evergreen Park and Recreation District.
