Kaiser Permanente plans to open a new medical office in Evergreen in the next few months.
“We have been looking at a couple of sites in the area but at this time do not have a final location,” said Amy Whited, spokesperson for Kaiser Permanente. The health provider may either lease or build new space.
The new office will have about 5,000 square feet and will focus on primary care services, including internal medicine and family practice. There will be two physicians at first, with room for a third in the future.
Kaiser has nearly half a million members in Colorado. It has 5,000 members in Evergreen, Conifer, Genesee, Idaho Springs and Georgetown, Whited said. It does not have a contract with St. Anthony Hospital.
But Kaiser is not the only new player among local medical centers.
Blue Creek Family Medicine and Urgent Care, 1520 Evergreen Parkway, announced last year it was being acquired by Centura St. Anthony Hospital, and is now operating under the name St. Anthony Health Center Evergreen.
The clinic is moving into a new, 7,000-square-foot facility in the Elk Bridge building on Ellingwood Trail in March.
The St. Anthony clinic is expected to complement the new, 272-room St. Anthony Hospital opening in 2011 in Lakewood.
